Our carbon inlets have a larger volume than the stock inlets by maintaining a larger diameter all the way to the turbos. The stock inlets narrow down immediately after the connection to the intake which creates a restriction especially at higher boost levels. We have alleviated this restriction and also designed the curvature to be as smooth as possible allowing the turbos to reach peak boost sooner.\n\nDuring development we also tested inlets with larger openings and redesigned the intake to have an oversized connection to the inlets. We have managed to increase the internal volume as well as eliminating the ridged flexible section at the airbox side. By using a completely solid tube all the way from the intake to the turbo, the flow path is smoother and therefore airflow can remain more laminar. To account for engine movement, our A35 intake has a “floating” tube, which can move within the airbox. The shape of the carbon tube at the turbo end has been optimised using CFD to minimise turbulence. The connection to the turbo is achieved with an innovative silicon coupler that features an internal thermal separator between the carbon tube and the metal turbo housing. Furthermore we dramatically increased the size of the turbo inlets by as much as 85% when measuring the cross sectional area at the openings. The second objective was met by designing an organically shaped system with a custom rounded panel filter to ensure the airflow path contained no sharp corners and therefore allowed for the flow to remain laminar. With smooth transitions from the filter to the turbo inlets, our intake minimises the formation of turbulence and therefore the turbos are able to operate more efficiently. We partnered with BMC for a bespoke filter element to ensure that the filtration area is as large as possible whilst keeping airflow clean.\n\nWith all objectives met, our C8 RS6 intake system delivers on all fronts and allows for the turbos to generate boost more efficiently. This results in an improved throttle response and significant power gains, independently tested which increase with higher states of tune.
